Guajira, Colombia

Located in the northernmost part of Colombia and South America, Guajira is a region of extensive deserts, dunes and beaches. With a majority of the population belonging to the Wayuu ethnic group, their gastronomy, spiritual beliefs, clothing, culture, and government, are heavily marked by the traditions of this powerful matrilineal group that has fought hard to stick to their customs and beliefs.
